What is Ayurveda Medicine?

Ayurveda is the sanskrit word for " The Science of Life"

This system originated in India over 6,000 years ago and the creators who gave Ayurveda to the world were drawn from the highest intellectual and spiritual hierarchy. Their motive and  purpose was to alleviate human suffering and their recorded precepts were for their disciples whom they trained for the service of humanity. Ayurveda rejuvenates the body's cells and tissues after toxins are removed. Most may be familiar with the term detoxing.  With Ayurveda the process is structured to each client’s body constitution, which is called Dosha.

The Dosha is a map of how your body digests food, your emotional awareness, stress-management and other factors which make up everyday life.

According to the Ayurvedic literature, a unique combination of space, air, fire, water, and earth makes up each person.

These universal elements form the three energies

  • Vata dosha
  • Pitta dosha
  • Kapha dosha

When a person is unwell, their energies or Doshas become unbalanced, and Ayurvedic practitioners like myself  will treat the condition by re-balancing the doshas. Ayurveda medicine believes that Roga (disease) is caused by deficient, improper, or excess contact with:

  1. Seasons

  2. Sensory objects

  3. Activities(outdoor/exercise)

  4. Internal or external circumstances

  5. Over Activity or under activity

  6. Traumas

  7. Psychological or spiritual factors

The purpose of finding out your body's constitution is to create a wellness plan turned lifestyle. As an Ayurveda advocate it is important to not only heal the body physically but mentally and spiritually as well. Lady Shamanka believes in being of service to others, to the collective and assisting the collective in the process of self-healing.

Peace and Blessings.
